I think I developed a new appreciation for "letter song"...
"Dearest myself in 10 years
How are you doing? Are you happy?
Sad days? or Crying days?
Having bad days? Are you OK?
But something beside you,
there is something that doesn't change.
I hope you are not alone.
I believe in your beautiful smile."
Weird grammar, I realize this. However, the whole theme of this song is a letter to yourself in 10 years, and so the lyrics seemed really meaningful to me. It's as if your future personality has taken form of a human being and writes a letter to your self in the present(or past, if you want to think of it that way). Things like how the present self's day went, the caring questions of whether they are okay or not, and that even if they really did have a bad day or are feeling down to not worry because they should believe in themselves and trust they can achieve their hopes and dreams. It's almost like a love song to yourself 10 years in the past, saying to not worry, because they know everything is going to be okay in the end.

Giving the future self a persona like this is kind of interesting. It brings up thoughts in my head like, "Maybe our guardian angel is not someone we love who passed away, but instead it's ourselves from 10 years into the future. Someone who obviously knows everything about you, plus with 10 years of experience." What a comfortable thought, no? People always say that the only person know knows you in and out is you, so why wouldn't our guardian angel be someone we know, except with 10 years of expereience?

At the end of the song, there is one final letter:
"Dearest myself in 10 years
How are you doing? Are you happy?
I would like you to think of me.
This is "me" 10 years before.
Hey do you remember?
All the memories I told you about
Isn't it the greatest memory?

Dearest myself in 10 years."
Now there's a thought to mess you up xD There is now a past self of the future self persona appearing, writing a letter to... I do believe it should be still to the present self. What an interesting theme to use in form of a song, no? If only songs today would have such complex and yet so simple themes like these, I'd definitely take more interest in them. Unfortunately I have yet to find such songs with such themes so I shall stay in my confinement of korean and japanese songs.

This actually started off as a tweet... then it got longer, and longer, and I decided this could be more properly used as a blog post x3 Enjoy the song, it's sung so well ; ___;

LOL as I'm reading this blog, I decided immediately to search for it on youtube cuz I'm missing plug-in for the vid you imbedded (or any other form of flash you put've put in) and I have to say, I totally agree with the fact that this song is interesting and meaningful. It gives a new meaning to writing lyrics and the song is equally well composed. thanks for the blog post, or else I'd never noticed such a great piece of music =P
